Anyone checked out the new Avet G2 yet? They look sweet!

Introducing the new G2 (Generation Two) series from Avet Reels! Available in “Neptune's Heart” limited edition color combo. The G2 is a new series to fill in the line class gap between the originals and the Raptors. The G2 Single speeds answer the demand for single speed reels with more drag output. Avet has received many requests over the years for single speed Raptors. Although not quite as powerful the Raptor drags, the 40% increase in drag output over the originals should fit the bill nicely!

    Features:
    • 40% more drag output, bridging the line class gap between Avet's Original series and Raptor series
    • Re-designed frame, new refined look and feel
    • Ratcheting glide plate/lever system with positive stop at strike position and button release to advance to full drag
    • Faceted, knurled drag knob and lever grip provides a positive grip and tactile feel
    • Refined, silent, reliable dog and gear anti-reverse system with more gear teeth and minimal handle back-play
    • Increased line capacities over Avet's Original series, allowing generous space for appropriate, larger line classes
    • Available in single and 2-speed, SXJ through LX sizes
    • Larger G2 models feature larger bearings and main shafts for added durability with heavy line classes
    • All G2 models will be available in left or right hand retrieve (However, no ETA as of yet for left handed models)
    • Optional M.C. control on all models
    • Will be available in all of Avet's standard colors (However, no ETA as of yet)
    • Proudly made in the U.S.A.

Like carnivore, I'm a little financially challenged as well. Once my skipjack is done to my liking, I'll upgrade my fishing gear. Until then, I'll have to use what I got and drool over cool stuff like that.

I agree, the raptors are pretty sweet. I currently have 3 of them but always looking at stuff when when I don't need it. :D

I do not understand the need for the G2. Unless they discontinue the regular line of Avets. You have regular reels, and the beefed up raptor reels .... what is the need for a third "middle of the road" line?

I find the single speed SX and MX reels good for inshore fishing.
